Marjorie Glassmaker, 85, of Cherokee, Iowa, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000 at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee

Services were at 10:30 a.m.Friday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, with Fr. Armond Bertrand officiating. Burial was in Maryhill Catholic Cemetery. A 7 p.m. prayer service and 7:30 rosary was held Thursday at the Greenwood Funeral Home.

Marjorie was born March 1, 1915 to George and Ethel (Burch) Willbrandt in Cherokee, Iowa. She graduated from Wilson High School, Cherokee, in 1933. She married John Glassmaker on May 25, 1936 in Maryhill, Iowa. The couple farmed west of Cherokee for many years. Her husband died in 1989. Marjorie also worked at Mid Sioux Opportunity. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America, Bingo International, and a bowling league.

Survivors include a son, Daniel Glassmaker of Sacramento, California, and one daughter, Mrs. Vicki (Jerry) Menke of Cleghorn, Iowa; a brother, Bill Willbrandt of Cherokee; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Willbrandt of Seneca, South Carolina, Josephine Turner of Cherokee, and Elizabeth Bauer of Cherokee; brother-in-law Ray and Helen Glassmaker of Cleghorn; 6 grandchildren, Kristi and Matt Glassmaker, Jessica Kuhns, John and Dan Gates, and Jarod Menke; and 4 great grandchildren, Megan, Christopher, Michael Gates, and Scyler Menke.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Ed and Dale, and her parents.
