John W. Glassmaker, 86, of RR 1, Cleghorn, died Wednesday, March 1, at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

Services were held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Maryhill Visitation Church. The Rev. Gene Sitzmann officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. by the parish Friday and at 8 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee.

Glassmaker was born Feb. 19, 1903, in Cherokee County and had been a resident of Cherokee County all his life. He attended rural schools in Cherokee County. On May 25, 1936, he married Marjorie Willbrandt at Maryhill Church. He farmed in Cherokee County for many years, retiring in 1975. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Daniel Glassmaker of Clovis, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Vicki) Menke, Cleghorn; one brother, Raymond Glassmaker, Cleghorn; four sisters, Elizabeth Bauer, Cleghorn; Josephine Turner and Mrs. Ed (Dolores) Ford, both of Cherokee and Hilda Peterson, Great Falls.
