1882-1972 Cherokee Archives

Mrs. Ethel Willbrandt, 89, died at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital Tuesday night following a one-year illness. She had made her home at 617 N. 2nd in Cherokee and had been a resident of Cherokee practically all her life.

Born on April 12, 1882 at Maynard to George and Sarah Kniffen Burch, she lived with her parents in Kansas moving with them as a young girl to Cherokee. She married George Willbrandt on Sept. 24, 1902 at Cherokee.

Survivors are three sons, Edwin J. and George L. both of Cherokee and Dale of Springfield, Va.; one daughter, Mrs. John (Marjorie) Glassmaker of Cleghorn; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Ralph B.(Ruth) Collins of Eldora.

Preceding her in death were her husband on March 25, 1936; her parents; one son, Lawrence in infancy; and seven brothers and sisters.

Services were held at 10 a.m.Friday at the Greenwood Funeral home with Rev. A.E. Goldhorn, pastor of Memorial Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
