George Willbrandt died at 10:30a.m., March 25, 1936, at his home at 617 N. 2nd Street at the age of 80 years, two months, and 16 days, after a lingering illness.

He was born in Chicago, Ill. January 9, 1876. At the age of five he moved to Tripoli, IA, Bremer county. He became a member of the German Lutheran church and at one time studied for the ministry of the faith. He came to Cherokee in the year of 1900. On September 24, 1902, he was united in marriage to Ethel A. Burch of Cherokee. To this union five children were born, Lawrence, Edwin, Lowell, Marjorie and Dale. Lawrence died in infancy. He is survived by his wife, four children and two granddaughters, all of Cherokee. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Herman.

George was a well known carpenter and contractor. His friends were numbered by his acquaintances. He was a loving father and devoted husband and will be greatly missed in his home and by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held at the Duven funeral home Saturday, March 28, at 3:oo p.m. Services were conducted by Rev. Mitchell at the Presbyterian church assisted by Rev. Dailey of the Church of Christ. Remains were laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery.

The attending relatives from out of town were: Mrs. Lily Rewoldt of Fredericka, Leo Willbrandt of Waterloo, Mrs. C. L. Lempe of Waverly, Mrs. Earl Wendt and daughter of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Ruth Forbes of Fort Dodge, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Burch, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Thode, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Burch, all of Des Moines; Mrs. Fred Burch and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Seal and daughter of Sioux Falls, SD. Friends from out of town were: Mrs. Frank Cole and daughter of Lake City, IA, William Ross and Miss Marjorie Peacock of Fort Dodge.
