Leo R. Brady, 88, of Marcus passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, at Heartland Care Center in Marcus.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, with the Rev. Eugene Murray officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 4 to 8 p.m., a 4 p.m. rosary by the Knights of Columbus and a 7 p.m. Scriptural prayer service, at Earnest-Rohde Funeral Home in Marcus. Visitation will resume one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

Leo Robert Brady was born April 20, 1919, in Marcus, Iowa, to James Leo and Eleanor (Berendes) Brady. He graduated from Marcus High School in 1937. He then attended National Business Training in Sioux City. Leo enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1942. He proudly served his nation until he earned his honorable discharge in November 1945.

While stationed in Florida, Leo and Bernice Beaton were united in marriage at Drew Field in Tampa, Fla., on April 26, 1944. The couple returned to Marcus following the war and made their home on a farm northeast of town. Along with farming, Leo worked as an adjuster with Western Cherokee Mutual Insurance in Marcus for 20 years. Leo and Bernice moved into Marcus in 1973. They retired in 1984.

He was a lifelong member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. He was also a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of American Legion F.I. Goodburn Post 517 of Marcus.

Leo will be lovingly remembered by two daughters, Evelyn Graff of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Linda Christensen and her husband, Tom of Maplewood, Minn.; two sons, Dale Brady and his wife, Meg of Waterloo, Iowa, and Scot Brady and his wife, Deb of Graniteville, S.C.; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Ron of Colorado, Matt of California, Ray of Iowa, and Jim of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bernice on Dec. 2, 2000; a sister, Mary Eleanor; an infant brother Mark; and brothers, Jack, Francis and Joseph.
