CROUCH, CRAWFORD, CALENDAR, SWEET, CARR

William Crouch, one of the early settlers of this county , died at his home in the First Ward early Tuesday, morning, death resulting from a stroke of paralysis, suffered about three weeks ago. The funeral was held yesterday at 2:00p.m. services being conducted by Rev. Ferris.

Mr. Crouch was born in Jefferson County, New York, Jan. 14, 1819. In 1849 he was married to Mary J. Crawford. They located in Wisconsin in 1854 and in Clayton County in 1857. In 1863 they removed to Winneshiek County coming to this county in 1869. In 1891 the deceased left the farm and has resided in this city since. Four children beside his wife survive him; Mrs. Vila J. Calendar, Mrs. Josephine Sweet, Mrs. Anna M. Carr and James Crouch.

Mr. Crouch was an eminently respected citizen and will be mourned sincerely by a wide circle of friends.
