Virgil Harden, 78, of Aurelia Iowa, died Thurs. Aug, 29th, 2002, at Sunset Knoll Retirement Home in Aurelia.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 3rd at 2:30 from the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia with Rev. Jack Weida officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Aurelia with Military Honors by the Grasshoff-McManus American Legion post # 390. Redig Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Virgil Elwayne "Pete" Harden was born Sept. 15, 1923, the Son Of George and Alice (Goettsch)Harden
of Aurelia. He graduated from Aurelia High School in 1941. He served in the Army Air Corps from Jan 4th , 1944, to Oct. 30th, 1945
On Sept. 26th, 1947 he married Dorothy Lee in Lemars . They farmed until retiring in 1991. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia and the Aurelia Kiwanis, and a 50 year member of the American legion. He enjoyed golfing.
Preceding him in death were his parents, 1 daughter, Deborah Lynn and 1 brother-in-law, Alfred Felton.
Survivors include his wife, 1 daughter, Sue and her husband Don Kramer of Hudson, Wisc. 1 son, Charles and his wife Marilyn of Des Moines; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Also surviving him are 4 sisters, Berneice and her husband, Wallace Koopman of Phoenix Ar. Thelma and her husband Harold Hoops of Galva, Ia , Gloria Felton of Aurelia, and Norma and her husband Gilbert Peterson of Phoenix, AR and many nieces and nephews.
