Elaine Flanigan, 50, of Cherokee, Iowa, died suddenly Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center, Cherokee, Iowa.

Services will be held Friday May 25, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Armand Bertrand will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, Iowa. Online condolences may be sent to www.greenwoodfuneral.com.

Elaine was born May 10, 1957 in Cherokee, Iowa to Earl and Wilma (Leckband) Flanigan. She attended school in Cherokee, graduating from Washington High School in 1975. Elaine worked for Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in the dietary department for 7 years. She later worked at the Cherokee Work Services and part-time at the Pizza Hut in Cherokee. She enjoyed playing the organ and helping others.

Survivors include her father; sisters, Kathleen LaFleur, and her husband, Don, of Minot, North Dakota; Rosie Schlichting, of Cherokee, Iowa; a brother, Robert Flanigan, and his wife, Janice, of Sioux City, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her mother, (Wilma, 1996) a brother (Thomas, 1955)
