Maxine R. Tweney, 89, a former Marcus, Iowa resident, died May 6, 2007 in Grand Junction, Colo. Funeral services were held on May 10, 2007 in Grand Junction, Colo. Burial of the cremation ashes will be in the Marcus-Amherst Cemetery at a later date.

Maxine was born on Feb. 16, 1918 at Doland, S.D. to Warren & Mayme (Ulstad) Calvert. She was raised by Hattie Ulstad and Blanche Bass. She was a longtime Marcus, area resident.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George H. Tweney, one son Billy W. Read, and a granddaughter Alyssa Rae Read.

She is survived by six sons and one daughter: Dennis Read of Carlsbad, Calif.; Laurence Read of Grand Junction, Colo.; Allen Read of Grand Junction, Colo.; Clint Read of Seattle, Wash.; Kenneth Read of San Leandro, Calif.; Craig Tweney of Seattle, Wash.; Ramona Werber of Grand Junction, Colo.; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother Gordon Calvert of Thailand.
