Floyd Peter Lux, 88, of Cherokee died Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at his residence following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, with the Revs. Armand Bertrand and Gene Sitzmann officiating. Burial will be in Maryhill Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary, at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee. Floyd was born Feb. 22, 1919, in Rock Township, rural Cherokee, to Maydar and Anna (Henke) Lux. He attended school at Maryhill in rural Cherokee, Iowa. Following his formal education, he stayed on the family farm to farm with his parents.

On April 12, 1944, he married Mary Frances Lang in Remsen, Iowa. They returned to Cherokee, where they engaged in farming for many years, raising cattle, hogs, beans and corn. He retired from farming in 1990, but still kept active helping his sons, who were now farming.

He enjoyed woodcarving, fishing, dancing, golfing and playing cards. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and for many years, a member of the Pork Producers and Beef Producers.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Michael Lux and his wife, Janet of Cherokee, James Lux and his wife, Cathy of Ames, Iowa, Mark Lux of Cherokee and Dale Lux of Meriden, Iowa; daughters and their husbands, Barbara and John Boersma of Kearney, Neb., and Theresa and Steve Conley of Cherokee; grandchildren, Tamara Lux, Bryan Lux, Kristin Lux, Shawn Schmaderer, Chad Boersma, Maria Lux, Thomas Lux, Peter Conley, Calvin Conley, Gabriel Conley, Abigail Lux, Brittany Lux and Jaden Lux.; great-grandchildren, Quinton, Naomi, Ashlynn and Garret; brothers and their wives, Paul and Nyla Lux of Cherokee and Joe and Janice Lux of Cherokee; and sisters, Frances Ann Rupp of Cherokee, Mary Lou and her husband, Joe Wiemold of Cherokee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Orman; and a brother-in-law, Richard "Dick" Rupp.
