Mary E. Splittgerber

Mary E. Dickerson Splittgerber, 88, of Rochester, Minn., former long time Larrabee area resident, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland, Iowa following a brief illness.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Larrabee United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Hopes officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Cedar Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.

Mary was born Sept. 24, 1918, in Cherokee County, Iowa, to Robert Floyd Lockwood and Mae (Wilkie) Lockwood. She graduated from Larrabee High School in 1937.

She was married to Floyd "Slim" Dickerson on June 21, 1937, in Sioux City. The couple farmed in the Larrabee, Quimby and Aurelia, Iowa area for many years. Mr. Dickerson passed away Sept. 25, 1954.

She was married to Ronald Splittgerber on Dec. 10, 1955, in Onawa, Iowa. The couple lived in Rochester, Minn. since 1957. She had worked at the Sears catalog store in Cherokee, at the Sears store and a photo lab in Rochester.

She was a member of Larrabee United Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald of Paullina, Iowa; four children and spouses, Sara and Bill Joines of Larrabee, Susan and Wayne Wilson of St. Petersburg, Fla., Robert and Nancy Dickerson of Rochester, Minn., and Harriet Cole of Owatonna, Minn.; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-stepgrandchildren; and a brother and his wife, Robert and Elisabeth Lockwood of Cherokee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd; twin grandchildren, Jacklyn and Jennifer Joines; and a sister and her husband, Harriet and Donald Harreld.
