Roberta Rogge

Roberta Rogge, 75, of Cherokee, Iowa, died Tuesday April 10, 2007, at her home, following a lengthy illness.

Services will be Friday at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Ray Hampton will officiate. Burial will be in the Liberty Township Cemetery in rural Meriden, Iowa. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M., with the family present from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, Iowa. Roberta was born December 9, 1931 in Cherokee, Iowa to Reginald and Evelyn (Schnell) Hantsbarger. She attended school in Cherokee, Iowa, graduating from Wilson High School in 1949. Roberta attended and graduated from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa, in 1952. On September 5, 1953 she married Arnold Rogge in Jackson, Minnesota. He preceded her in death June 22, 1997. She worked as an R.N. and surgical nurse in the surgical and recovery unit of Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital for many years. Retiring in 1996, Roberta had also assisted with the Home Health and Hospice services involved at the hospital.

Roberta was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where she was a longtime member of the choir. She also taught Sunday School for many years. She assisted with many 4-H projects and worked in the craft building at the Cherokee County Fair. She assisted on the Relay for Life Committee , Daffodil Days and many other committees. Roberta was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and of P.E.O. since 2005. She enjoyed her flower gardens and following her I.S.U. Cyclones.

Survivors include her daughter, Jeanene and her husband, Dr. Dean Meylor, of Summerfield, North Carolina; sons, Don Rogge, and his wife, Deb, of Loveland, Colorado; Bruce Rogge and his wife, Lynne, of Portsmouth, Virginia; Neal Rogge, of Cherokee, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Renee Rogge, of Cherokee, Iowa; a sister, Joan Hilkemeier, and her husband, Don, of Kimball, Nebraska; grandchildren; Jessica Benningfield and her husband Robert; Adam Meylor; Jason Rogge, and his wife, Verline; Erin Rogge; and Matthew Rogge; great-grandchildren, Isabella Rogge, Roman Rogge, and Ryann Benningfield.

She was preceded in death by her husband (Arnold, June 22, 1997), her parents, a son (Darryl, August 1, 2003)
