Wayne F. Fuhrman, 61, of rural Sutherland, died Monday evening, Feb. 26, 2007 in the Baum-Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar, Iowa due to injuries received in a farm accident.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 2, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Dennis Hopes will officiate and burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee.

There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Friday. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee.

He was born on Sept. 24, 1945 at Cherokee, to Lester & Erma (Woltman) Fuhrman. He attended Sutherland Schools graduating in 1963. He then attended South Dakota State University, receiving an Associate Degree in Agriculture. He was married to Patricia J. Fiddelke on Dec. 10, 1966 at Calumet.

He had been a resident of Cherokee County all his life, farming the family farm in Spring Township. He was a member of the Larrabee United Methodist Church, where he had served on various boards and committees.

He had served on the Larrabee Elevator Board and also served six years in the U.S. Army Reserve.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Marvin and Mary Ann Fiddelke, a brother-in-law Ray Grashoff, and a sister-in-law Marlene Novak.

He is survived by his wife Pat, two sons and one daughter: Mark Fuhrman and his wife Beth of Paullina; Michael Fuhrman and his wife Dawn of Larrabee; Melissa Fuhrman of Sutherland; five grandchildren: Laird, Chase, Jacob, Noah and Grace Fuhrman; 1 brother and two sisters: Kenneth Fuhrman and his wife Nancy of Bettendorf; Shirley Otto and her husband Jerry of Shoreview, Minn.; Janet Grashoff of Aurelia; a sister-in-law Marilyn Kathol of Norfolk, Neb.; a brother-in-law Bruce Novak of Monticello; a brother-in- law Bruce Fiddelke and his wife Mary of Sutherland; two aunts and one uncle: Alice Fuhrman of Cleghorn; Erma Woltman of Cherokee; Ralph Woltman of Cherokee; also many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
