Donna I. Reinert, 56, of Cherokee passed away Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa. Private family services and burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee.

Donna was born Dec. 22, 1950, at Sioux City, to Thomas and June (Utecht) Montgomery. She graduated from Willow Community High School in 1969. She then attended Iowa State University, graduating with a degree in family social services and home economics. She also obtained an elementary education degree from Buena Vista University. For many years, Donna was a substitute teacher for the local schools and was a private tutor. She was a lifelong resident of the Cherokee area.

She was affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Donna loved reading, cooking and collecting cookbooks.

Survivors include a brother and a sister, John Montgomery and his wife, Patti of Aurelia, Iowa, and Denise Petty and her husband, Reginald of Washta, Iowa; three nephews and great nephews and nieces, Adam Petty and his wife, Tressa and their children, Tyler, Elise and Kaylee of Correctionville, Iowa, Andrew Petty and his wife, Stephanie and their son, Timothy of Quimby, Iowa, and David Petty of Emmetsburg, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant sister, Sharon.
