Lorene M. Pruett, 91, a resident of the Cherokee Villa Nursing & Rehab Center died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 24th, at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, with Pastor Richard Arndt officiating. Burial was in the Cedar Cemetery near Larrabee.

Lorene was born July 3, 1915, to Karl Gustav and Lavinia (Muller) Ludwig on a farm southeast of Battle Creek. She graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1933.

On Jan. 12, 1938, she was married to Clyde M. Pruett at Battle Creek.

Her home was a farm north of Cherokee, where she lived for 43 years before moving to town. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Lorene took great pride in her family and especially enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, quilting, embroidering, and feeding birds and squirrels.

She is survived by her children; Merl (Barbara) Pruett of Cherokee; Janet (Richard) Pineda of Fremont, Nebraska; Robert (Bonnie) Pruett of McGregor. Lorene was blessed with seven grandchildren; Michael Pruett of Mankato, Minn., Matthew Pruett of Cherokee, Mitchell (Mikaela) Pruett of Sioux Falls, S.D., Nathan (Christine) Pruett of Cedar Rapids, Peter (Jill) Pruett of Roswell, GA, Rachel Pruett of Prairie du Chien, Wis., and Dax Pineda of Kansas City, Mo.; and she enjoyed eight great grandchildren. Survivors also include one sister, Lina Clouse of Waukegan, Ill., and one brother, Karl Graversen, of Pocahontas.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde on August 1, 1985, her parents, three brothers Alvin, John (Ike), and Arnold Ludwig; three sisters, Leona Harder, Marion Christie, and Elsie Miller; and granddaughter-in-law, Catherine (Ackerman) Pruett.
