Josephine Anna Turner, 96, of Cherokee died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, in Albuquerque, N.M. She was a resident of Cherokee County for 93 years but had moved to Albuquerque in 2003 to be near her daughter.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, with the Rev. Armand Bertrand officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, with a Catholic Daughters of America rosary at 4 p.m. and a Scripture service at 7 p.m., at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee. Josephine was born March 12, 1910, in Cleghorn, Iowa, to William and Frances (Zimmer) Glassmaker. She attended school in Cherokee, graduating from Immaculate Conception High School in 1928. She attended Cherokee Academy for one year.

On Sept. 12, 1934, she married Walter W. Turner at Maryhill Visitation Catholic Church in rural Cherokee. They farmed near Cherokee until 1982. Walter preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 1985.

She loved gardening and growing flowers. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ladies Union, an honorary member of the Catholic Daughters of America and active in card and neighborhood clubs.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Jack and Doris Turner of Warsaw, Ill., and Frank and Terri Turner of Madison, Wis.; three daughters, Lois Wahl of Denver, Colo., Sandra Bundy of Albuquerque, N.M., and Donna Turner-Lutman and her husband, Steve of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother and his wife, Raymond and Helen Glassmaker of Cleghorn, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; infant sons, James and Anthony; a son-in-law, Robert Wahl; and six brothers and sisters.
