Rosella (Dunn) Harmon, 87, of Cherokee died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, with the Rev. Armand Bertrand officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee. There will be a Scripture service at 7 p.m. today at the church. Visitation will resume Thursday morning at the church. Condolences may be sent online to www.greenwoodfuneral.com.

Rosella was born Nov. 17, 1919, in the family farm in Cherokee County, Iowa, to William A. and Mary J. (Pigott) Dunn. She attended school in Meriden, Iowa, graduating from high school in 1938. After graduation, she worked for St. Vincent's Hospital in Sioux City, then Eitel Hospital in Minneapolis. She returned to Cherokee in 1962 to care for her parents and was then employed at Sioux Valley Hospital in Cherokee as a unit secretary, retiring in 1983.

On June 20, 1986, she married Ron Harmon in Ashton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 2002.

Her hobbies included knitting, visiting with friends and spending time in Arizona.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Ardythe Dunn of Cherokee; nieces and nephews, Diane (Gary) Swanson and Debi (Dr. Cliff) Meylor, all of Sioux City, Jim (Karen) Dunn of Moose, Wyo., Mark (Shari) Dunn and Mary (Todd) Sechler, all of Cherokee; stepchildren, Larry (Colleen) Harmon of Cherokee, Dean (Jan) Harmon of Moline, Ill., Mel (Joan) Harmon and Marlene (Virg) Madison, all of Mesa, Ariz., Marilyn (Dick) Kreisel of Aurelia, Iowa; special friends, Gary Chase of Cherokee and his family, Mike and Wanda Chase, Steve Chase, Vicki and Lanny Parrott and their children, Aaron, Megan, Molly and Macey; numerous stepgrandchildren; grandnieces and grandnephews; cousins; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ron; brothers, Wilbert, Lawrence and James; two nephews; a grandniece; a stepdaughter and her husband, Ron and Karen Brown; and her dear friend, Connie Chase.
