Laurence David Miller, the four year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Miller, died Thursday evening in the LeMars hospital following a tragic accident on his parents’ farm four miles northeast of Marcus.

Laurence and the other children had gained access to matches and fuel oil with the almost inevitable result. When reached by his father the child’s clothing was ablaze and he was pitifully burned.

He was brought immediately to the Joynt & Hayden offices here and rushed to the LeMars hospital, but there was no hope of saving his life.

Laurence was the youngest son of Carl H. and Lila Miller. He was born June 28, 1946, and had reached his fourth birthday only the day before his death. He was baptized into the Christian faith August 25 of the year of his birth in the Nazareth Lutheran church in Marcus.

Besides Mr. and Mrs. Miller his is survived by a sister, Doris, three brothers, Ronald, Dale and Allen, and many other relatives in this community.

Services were held Sunday afternoon in the Nazareth Lutheran church and burial was made in Marcus and Amherst cemetery. The Rev. John Christensen was in charge.
