Ethel Anna Booth Miller, 96, died Tuesday, September 3, 2003 in the Cherokee Villa following a lengthy illness.

There will be no services. Burial will be in the Marcus Cemetery, Marcus at a later date. Greenwood Funeral Home of Cherokee is in charge of arrangements.

She was born February 26, 1907 in Cleghorn to Ruffus and Olive (Goodrich) Booth. She attended schools in the Marcus/Cleghorn area, graduating from Cleghorn High School. Following high school she obtained a nursing degree from Sioux City Lutheran Hospital, Sioux City.

She served her country in the US army during World War II. Ethel rose quickly through the military ranks to become Major Ethel Booth. She was stationed in Cairo, Egypt and was the highest ranking female officer at the base hospital. She is preceded in death by her husband, Peter Miller, her parents, three brothers (James, Emery, and Arthur) and one sister (Fannye Ament).
