Martha Miller, 89, of Marcus, Iowa, died Saturday, February 15, 1997 at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars. Services were at 10:30am on Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church in Marcus. Rev. Shelby Bailey officiated and burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Cherokee. Visitation began at 2:00pm on Monday with the family present from 7:00pm until 8:00pm and a prayer service at 7:30pm at the Earnest and Roethler Funeral Chapel in Marcus.

Mrs. Miller, the former Martha Miller, was born January 12, 1908, at Marcus, Iowa. She was the daughter of Peter and Kirstine (Sandbek) Miller. A lifelong Marcus area resident, she graduated from Marcus High School. She married Johann Miller on May 21, 1927, at Marcus. He died February 9, 1985. She was a homemaker and enjoyed baking and working with flowers. She has been a resident of Heartland Care Center in Marcus the past two years.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Welca of the church, and Marcus Senior Citizens group.

Survivors include three sons, LaVerne and his wife Jean of Plymouth, Mn., Edward and his wife Janet of Stockton, Mo., and Daniel and his wife Suellen of Council Bluffs, Ia; a brother, Herman and his wife Charlotte Miller of LeMars, Ia; and two sisters, Esther Galvin of Cedar Rapids, Ia., and Rose Olson of Apple Valley, Mn.; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and three sisters, and a son in infancy.

Faith Hanson was the organist at the service and the congregation sang “In The Garden” and “How Great Thou Art”. Serving as pallbearers were Gary Miller, Bradley Miller, David Face, Mike Miller, Dan Chapman, and Dale Miller.
