Carl Miller, 64, died in Cherokee Monday following a short illness. He had lived in the Marcus and Cherokee areas all his life.

Born in Marcus on December 8, 1905, to Peter and Kristine Sandbeck Miller, he married Lila McIntire at Marcus on April 10, 1936. They farmed near Marcus until 1952, when they moved near Quimby and continued to farm for two more years before retiring and moving to Cherokee.

Survivors are his wife, Lila of Cherokee; three sons, Ronald of Cherokee, Dale of St. Paul, Minn., and Allen of Independence, Mo.; one dauther, Mrs. Allen (Doris) DeForest of Cherokee; three brothers, Chris of Sauk Center, Minn., John of Aurelia, and Herman of Remsen; five sisters, Mrs. Marie Pallesen and Mrs. Johann Miller, both of Marcus, Mrs. Ray Bogh of LeMars, Mrs. Walter Galvin of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Einor Olson of Lincoln, Neb.; and six grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were a son, Lawrence in 1950, three brothers; Peter, William and Bert, and one sister, Ann Lubbert.

Services will be held at 2:00pm Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee with Rev. Robert Hurty officiating. Burial will be in the Cherokee Memory Gardens. A family prayer service will be held at 12:45pm at the church. Greenwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
