Robert Doupe, son of Montiford and Mary (Bowen) Doupe, was born on Feb. 13, 1887 in Limerick, Ireland and died Feb. 28, 1961 in Cherokee ,Ia.
When he was 6 months old, he came to America with his parents. After coming to America he lived in Cherokee County the rest of his life with the exception of 2 years spent in Wisconsin and 2 years spent overseas in WW I. He retired 11 years ago from his farm in Cherokee Township to his home at 527 West Cherry in Cherokee.
He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
Preceding him in death were his parents, 2 brothers, Otis and Arthur Doupe, and 1 sister, Mrs. Forrest ( Catherine ) Ware .
Survivors include 4 brothers, John, Charles, Samuel, and Monte Doupe, all of Cherokee; and 5 sisters, Mrs. J.H. ( Emma) Ware,of Cherokee, Mrs. Walter (Catherine) Whitney Storm Lake, Mrs. Leland (Margaretta) Loucks and Mrs. Bert ( Letha) Evertt both of Cherokee and Mrs. John (Ruby) Beck of Hartley.
Funeral services were held MAR.3 from the Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Goldhorn officiating. Mrs. Lyman Simpson provided organ music and accompanied the soloest, Mrs. Leo Kreykes, as she sang "Beyond the sunset" and "The Lords Prayer".
Buriel was in Oak Hill cemetery. Pallbearers were Ivan Bushlow, Harry Mummert, Wilbur Snapp, Frank Phipps, John Hydman and W.W. Simmons
