Allen August Wilmot
Allen “Buck” Wilmot, 77, of Cherokee, Iowa died Monday December 25, 2006 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 29, 2006, at 2:00 P.M. at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, Iowa Rev. Armand Bertrand will officiate. Burial will be in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at a later date. Online condolences may be sent at www.greenwoodfuneral.com
Allen was born August 7, 1929 to Phil and Luella (Witter) Wilmot. He moved to Cherokee, Iowa at an early age and attended Wilson high School in Cherokee, Iowa, graduating in 1948. He entered the U.S. Army and was discharged in 1951. Following his military service he remained in Philadelphia where he was married in 1952 to Patricia Strain. She preceded him in death.
While living in Philadelphia he worked for several years in a box container factory, as a security guard at a retirement convent, and later as an auto mechanic.
Survivors include his daughter, Cheryl Kersic and her husband, Ray, and their children Drew and Heather Kersic, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvannia; a grandson Chris Arnold and a great-grandson Damion Kersic; sisters, Donna Witcombe Gadke, of Waterloo, Iowa; Alma Leonard, and her husband, Amos, of Cherokee, Iowa; Delia Clayton, and her friend, Dick Clark, of Pleasantville, Iowa; brother, Dale Wilmot, of Kansas City, Missouri; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, daughter (Kelly) and a brother (Dean)
