Margaret E. Kohn, 85, of Cherokee, Iowa, died Tuesday, December 26, 2006 in Careage Hills following a brief illness.

Services will be held on Friday, December 29, 2006, at 10:30 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Armand Bertrand will officiate.

Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M., with a scripture service at 7:00 P.M. at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, Iowa. Online condolences may be sent at www.greenwoodfuneral.com

Margaret was born June 10, 1921 in Cherokee, Iowa to Iver and Gerda Johnson. She attended school in Grand Meadow, graduating from Grand Meadow High School in 1939. On September 30, 1942 she married Melvin Kohn in Cherokee, Iowa. He preceded her in death October 19, 2001. They farmed together for many years near Quimby and in Grand Meadow Township. Their life farming together also included several years farming west of Guthrie Center, Iowa.

Margaret was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and fishing. She was a member of St. Helen’s Guild in Quimby, Iowa, Hobby Club in Washta, Iowa and Senior Citizens in Quimby, Iowa.

Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn Peck, and her husband, Jim, of Cherokee, Iowa; sons, Ron Kohn, and his wife, Joanne, of Glenwood, Iowa; Larry Kohn, and his wife, Linda, of Waterloo, Nebraska; Doug Kohn, and his wife, Virginia, of Quimby, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ella Johnson, of Storm Lake, Iowa; brother, Art Johnson, and his wife, Phyllis, of Yakima, Washington; a sister-in-law, Fern Johnson, of Perry, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother (Clarence), a brother-in-law (Verner Johnson), a grandson (Keith Kohn) and a great-grandson (Joey Fevold)
