Funeral services for 82 year old Celia Daniels of Aurelia were held on Saturday, August 1, 1992 at the Congregational United Church of Christ with Dr. Robert Alexander and Dr. Floyd Pace officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Aurelia.

Celia Margaret Lewis Daniels was born on December 29, 1909 in San Angelo, Texas the only child of Ray and Maude Waterfield Lewis. The family moved to Laurens, Iowa in 1910 and then moved several times during Celia's school years living in Storm Lake, Somers, and Webster City where she graduated from the Webster City High School in 1927. In 1929 she graduated from the Webster City Jr. College. Celia then began her teaching career. After a year of teaching country school, she attended the University of Iowa graduating in 1932. Returning back to teaching she taught at Liscomb, Indianola, then moved to Aurelia in September of 1936 where she became High School Principal from 1936 to 1945. On July 29, 1945 Celia married Lewis Hastings Daniels at Cedar Falls. To this union, two sons were born, Ray and Rufus. She then returned to teaching again from 1957 to her retirement in 1975 in the Aurelia School system. In 1968 Celia received her Master's degree from Morningside College in Sioux City and taught summer school at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake in 1975.

Celia was a member of Phi Omega Pi Sorority, Pythian Sisters, Commercial Club, was a very active member in the Congregational United Church of Christ in Aurelia serving as choir director for many years. She was involved in many other groups and her wit and wisdom will be missed by all that knew her.

Celia died on Wednesday, July 29, 1992 at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Cherokee very unexpectedly. To mourn her death are her two sons and their wives; Ray and Jean Daniels of Peoria, IL, and Rufus and Nancy Daniels of Troy Mills, IA. Four grandchildren, Neil, Dan, Sonya and Shawn. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Lewis on December 5, 1959.

Her casketbearers were Archie Makay, Bart Neel, Ken Peterson, Dale Sleezer Sr, Carl Bachus and Van Nelson.

The funeral was under the direction of the Wharton-Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia.
