Frank R. Ducommun, 95, of Hartley and formerly of Cherokee, died Sun. Aug. 17, 2003 at 8:45 a.m. in the Community Memoriel Heath Center in Hartley.
Funeral services are on Wed. Aug. 20 at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Gregg Johnson will officiate and burial will be in the Meriden Cemetery. There is a family prayer service at 10:15 at the funeral home on Wed. Visitation was on Tues. from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 p.m. untill 8:00 p.m.at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee.
Frank was born on Jan. 21, 1908, at Cleghorn to Emile and Mary (Springer) Ducommun. He attended Cleghorn schools. He attended the Sioux City Barber College and worked there for several years.He was married to Luella Stroman on Apr. 8, 1933 at Cherokee. Frank and Luella farmed in Afton Township for many years, retiring in 1973 and moving to Cherokee. He had been a resident of Hartley the past 2 1/2 years. He was affiliated with with the Church Of Christ. He loved farming and fixing anything that needed fixed.
He was preceded in death by his wife Luella on Dec. 6, 1999, 3 brothers; Delmar, Roy, and Ralph Ducommun and a sister Marie O'Donnell.
He is survived by 1 daughter; Dee Kolpin and her husband Duane of Hartley; A grandaughter Debra Rushenberg and her husband Tracy of Urbandale; 2 great-grandsons Andrew and Samual Rushenberg of Urbandale. 2 brothers and 2 sisters; Alvin and his wife Sophie of Cherokee; Claire Ducummon of Storm Lake; Enola Stieneke and husband Ronald of Sioux City and Elva Hoohtern of Cherokee.
