Billie D. Mummert, 81 , of Cherokee died Tues. Dec. 2003 at his home in Cherokee of an apparent heart attack.
Funeral services will be held Sat. Jan. 3, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Pauls Methodist Church, Rev Ray Hampton will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 2:15 p.m. at the church on Sat. Visitation will be on Fri. from 9;00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m..
Billie was born June, 2, 1922 at Aurelia to Troy and Grace (Huff) Mummert. He married Doris Sorrell on June 18, 1943 in Cherokee. He had farmed all of his life on a farm near Aurelia retiring and moving to Cherokee in 1989. He was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church. He enjoyed square dancing, horseback riding and camping.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on Apr, 5, 1999; a son Michael Mummert on July 16, 2000 and a sister, Joan Vilas and a brother Dale Mummert.He is survived by 1 daughter Cheryl Dian Schultz and her husband Roger of Lafayette, Calif; A daughter-in-law Barbara Mummert of Aurelia; 4 grandchildren ; Marilyn Burns of Oakland Calif. Todd Mummert of Aurelia, Greg Mummert of Chicago; Robin Mummert of Madison, Wisc.; 1 brother-in-law Willie Vilas of Storm Lake.
