Clifford S. Peterson died Dec. 14 2005. Memorial services will be held at 10;00 a.m., Sat., Dec. 17, 2005 at the Church Of Christ in Sutherland, Ia. Rev. Don Gordon will officiate. Buriel will be in the Afton Township Cemetery, rural Cherokee. There will be no visitation.
Clifford S. Peterson, the son of Arthur and Thyra (Nelson) Peterson, was born Mar. 4, 1927 near Marcus Ia. His childhood years were spent in Marcus, where he received his education in country schools S.W. of Marcus. He was given a medical discharge from the Chicago Naval Base after 2 weeks of enlistment because of hearing
problems. Clifford mwrried Elaine Smith on June 30, 1947 at the Swedish Lutheran Church in Marcus, Ia. Following their marriage they farmed in the Marcus and Cherokee areas and also a few years at Lytton and Yetter, Ia. areas.
Cliff passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Ia. on Wed. Dec. 14, 2005 at the age of 78. He was preceeded in death by his parents; an infant brother,Alan Peterson; a brother, Kenneth and an infant great-grandson Jeremy Peterson.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine of Sutherland; his 6 children; Allan and Richard of Scotland, Ark.; LuAnn Taylor of Rockwell N.C. , Peggy Chridtensen of Sutherland, Larry Peterson of Sutherland and Riley Peterson of Houston , TX. 9 gradchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many other cousins and relatives and friends.
