Elva Mae Hoogterp, 91, of Sioux City died Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, in Sioux City.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Alex T. Washington officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Elva was born Feb. 21, 1915, on a farm outside of Cleghorn, Iowa, the daughter of Emile and Mary Magdeline (Springer) Ducommun. She graduated from Cleghorn High School in 1932.
She was united in marriage to Hans Hoogterp on Nov. 17, 1941, in Akron, Iowa. Hans passed away Dec. 2, 1965. She lived her entire married life in Sioux City.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing cards, watching her favorite television soaps, Iowa Hawkeyes basketball and professional baseball, especially the Cardinals.
Survivors include a sister and her husband, Nolie and Ronald Stieneke of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Sophie Ducommun of Cherokee, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hans; her parents; a sister, Marie O'Donnell; and six brothers, Delmar, Frank, Ralph, Alvin, Clair and Roy Ducommun.
