Leonard Seggerman

Leonard Paul Seggerman, 62, of Kirksville, Missouri, and formerly of Marcus, Iowa, died Sunday October 22, 2006 as a result of a fall sustained while elk hunting in the Bob Marshall Wilderness Area in Northwest Montana.

Memorial services will be held in Kirksville, Missouri and Marcus, Iowa. Services in Marcus, Iowa will be held Saturday November 4, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at the Peace Lutheran Church. Pastor James Gruber will officiate. Burial will be in the Paullina Cemetery, Paullina, Iowa. Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, Iowa is in charge of arrangements. Leonard was born February 2nd, 1944 on a farm near Cleghorn, Iowa to Harm and Leona Seggerman. He was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus, Iowa. He graduated from Marcus Public School and entered the U.S. Navy in 1962. Leonard served his country as a crypto logical intelligence communication specialist. He was stationed in Pensacola, Florida, Okinawa, Japan, Marietta, Washington, Keintra, Morocco, Moyock, North Carolina, Oahu, Hawaii and Napa, California and was aboard the USS Valdez. He retired from the Navy in 1982 after twenty years. He worked as an elevator technician in Sioux City, Iowa, Lincoln, Nebraska and Kirksville, Missouri, retiring in 2004.

Leonard married Annette Pattison in 1967. They were blessed with two daughters, Sheri and Robin. Later he married Joy Bierman Reinert on February 13, 1984. They had a son, Matthew. They currently were residing in Kirksville, Missouri.

Leonard lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying airplanes, working on cars, playing golf, reading books, collecting guns and traveling. His greatest love was Montana. He loved spending time with his son, grandchildren and friends. Leonard will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife Joy; son Matthew; daughters; Sheri Slosser and her husband Troy and their children, Megan and Evan of Portland, Oregon; Robin Seggerman of Bellingham, Washington; step-sons, Mike Reinert and his wife Erica and their child Hanna of Whitefish, Montana; David Reinert and his wife Jenny and their child, Justyne of Sioux City, Iowa; step-grandchildren, Zachary and Shelby Perkins of Cleghorn, Iowa; sisters, Norma Rath and her husband Norman of Calumet, Iowa, Mary Scott and her husband Gayle of Cherokee, Iowa, Jane LeBaugh and her husband Chris of Vancouver, Washington, Julie Kiertzner of Holstein, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Janis Robinson and Joyce Seggerman and a brother, Harold.
