Richard T. Niles, World War I Vet
Richard T. Niles, 90, died Wednesday at Cherokee Villa following a lengthy illness. He had previously made his home at 700 S. Second St. (died 1985)
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee with the Rev. Bob Davis officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Niles was born Aug. 6, 1894, in Boaz, Wis., to Mr. and Mrs. Thiletus Niles. He lived most of his life in Cherokee County.
He married Clara V. Jones Aug. 20, 1919, in Cherokee. She died June 3, 1972.
Mr. Niles was a veteran of World War I and was engaged in farming and raising sheep in Cherokee County.
He is survived by three sons, Paul and Merrill, both of Sioux City, and Harold of Brooklyn Center, Minn.; one daughter, Mrs. Murray (Ruby) Yates, Los Alamos, N.M.; a brother, Harley of Peoria, Ill.; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, Alvie, three sisters and three brothers.
