Mrs. Richard Niles
Mrs. Richard (Clara) Niles, 72, died June 3 at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital following a short illness. (June 3, 1972)
She was born July 9, 1897 in Cherokee County to Charles and Lettie Campbell Jones. She was married to Richard Niles on Aug. 20, 1919 in Cherokee. They lived on a farm at Aurelia prior to moving to Cherokee 30 years ago.
Mrs. Niles was a member of the Degree of Honor. She had worked at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital for 17 years prior to her retirement.
She is survived by her husband; four sons, Alvie of Quimby, Paul and Merrill, both of Sioux City, and Harold of Minneapolis; one daughter, Mrs. Yates (Ruby) Murry, Los Alamos, N.M.; a sister, Mrs. Nelson Phipps, Cherokee; a brother, Kern Jones, Cherokee; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Vern, Guy and Ellis, and a sister, Inez.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Greenwood Funeral Home. Dr. V. V. Schuldt will officiate and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
There will be a family prayer service at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
