Abel H. Campbell
Abel H. Campbell, son of William and Martha Campbell, was born in Thumbull County, Ohio, November 13, 1842. At the age of 20 he enlisted in Co. I, 72nd Ohio infantry. He was honorably discharged, September 11, 1865, after four years of continuous service.
March 22, 1874, having removed to Iowa, he located on a farm in Pitcher, continuing as a farmer until March 2, 1896, when he removed to 605 Roosevelt Avenue, making his home at that number until his death. (Oct 19, 1923)
On November 6, 1876, he was married to Miss Clara Faust. To this union five children were born: Mrs. Lettie Jones, S. J. Campbell, Mrs. B. J. Gilleas and Mrs. J. A. Cary, all residents of Cherokee county, and Howard Ellwood, who died in fancy. Besides the immediate family deceased is survived by one sister, Mrs. Rebecca Whitehead of Storm Lake, and one brother, Henry Campbell of Chicago.
