Robert R. Smith, 27 was born Jan. 24, 1919, son of William and Bertha ( Rhea ) Smith of Afton Township. He spent his entire life in Afton Township, departing this life, Sept. 30, 1946 at the age of 27 years old, while on a vacation trip through the western U.S.
On June 15, 1939 he married Mary Luella Loucks. The couple had 3 children, Roger 7; Marjorie 5 Jane 1, who with their mother are left to mourn his untimely death. He is also survived by his parents and 2 brothers, George abd Joseph Ray of Cherokee.

Known as "Bus" to his host of friends, he was loved by all for his genial disposition and kindly ways and will be greatly missed by his family circle and by his frinds. He had a love for flying and owned a Aeronca Champ Airplane.

Funeral services were held Oct. 5th at the Methodist Church with Rev. Arthur G. Peterson in charge . assisted by the Rev. J.E. Feller. Pallbearers were Roy McManus. Marvin Goldsmith, Floyd Hebron, Loren Phipps, Tracy Crippen and Cliff. Lindlief. Buriel was in the Afton Township ce,etery.
