PAULLINA, Iowa -- Luella "Lu" Wede, 77, of Paullina passed away Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, at Paullina Care Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland, Iowa, with the Rev. Leroy Riemer officiating. Burial will be in Waterman Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Paullina.

Luella "Lu" Wede, the daughter of John and Katie (Langholz) Bern, was born May 26, 1929, in Cherokee County, Iowa. She received her education and graduated from Larrabee (Iowa) Consolidated High School in 1946.

On Sept. 20, 1947, she was united in marriage to Del Wede at Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland. After their marriage, the couple engaged in farming for 45 years, until retiring and moving into Paullina. Her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 1993, in Cherokee, Iowa. She remained in the family home and entered Paullina Care Center in September 2006.

She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter and her husband, Marilyn and Greg Domino of Schaller, Iowa; three grandchildren, Molly Bainbridge and her fiance, Tom Mohr of Holstein, Iowa, Ryan Bainbridge and his fiancee, Susie Hale of Paullina and Christopher and Nicole Domino of Paullina; 11 great-grandchildren; a very close and special friend, Jerry Hammerstrom of Meriden, Iowa; two sisters, Velma Phillips of Troy, Mo., and Delores Schueder of Cherokee, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Gladys Stamer of Sutherland, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Everett Wede of Worthington, Minn.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Darrell Delbert Wede on Oct. 13, 1949; her parents, John and Katie Bern; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Phillips and Clarence Stamer.

She will be missed by many relatives and friends.
