From an unknown newspaper clipping, January 30, 1922.
Funeral services for Mrs. N. W. Ferguson, an aged Cherokee County pioneer who died at her home, 111 East Elm Street Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 from the M. E. church, Rev. E. D. McDade officiating. Interment was made in the Oak Hills Cemetery.

Fannie M. Cannon was born July 29, 1851, in Dane County, Wisconsin. She was a daughter of Ephriam and Emily Cannon. With her parents she emigrated to Iowa in the year 1867, and was married to N. W. ferguson on December 19, 1869. To this union three children were born, W. M. Ferguson of Menomonie, Wisconsin, L. O. Ferguson and Mrs. Letha Edna Gilbert, both of Cherokee County.

Her married life was nearly all spent on a farm in Cedar township where, in addition to her household duties, she taught sixteen successful terms of school. In the year 1906 Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson retired from the farm and have since spent a part of the time in Florida. She has spent many happy hours working in behalf of the W. R. C. After serving one year as president of the department of Florida, she attended the national convention at Indianapolis, where she was elected fourth member of the executive board, National W. R. C.

In early life she united with the M. E. Church and has lived her life faithful and true to the teachings of the Bible, a devoted wife and a loving mother. Her health began to fail two years ago while in Florida. She returned to Cherokee in the spring of 1921 and failed rapidly, until January 30th, at 3 o;clock God took her unto Himself.

She leaves besides her immediate family, an aged mother, six sisters and three brothers.
