PAULINE FIERK

Funeral services for Pauline Fierk, 81, of Aurelia, will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta, with Pastor Ted Eilders officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Aurelia. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00, at the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia.

Pauline died Thursday, February 9, 2006, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident south of Aurelia.

Theresa Pauline Johnson was born January 20, 1925, the daughter of Gust and Esther (Kruse) Johnson at Fort Dodge, IA. The family moved to Elk Township, north of Alta, in 1936. Pauline attended the Highview School, graduating in 1943. She received her RN degree from Iowa City, and worked as a nurse at the Alta Hospital. On October 9, 1948 Pauline married Vernon Lewis Fierk at the Immanuel Lutheran Church north of Alta. After her marriage Pauline continued nursing at M.H.I. in Cherokee. In 1958 she became the school nurse in Aurelia, a position she held for 29 years. She loved nursing and cared for Vernon at home after he became disabled.

Pauline was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Aurelia American Legion Auxiliary, and the Pythian Sisters. She enjoyed playing cards and painting, spending time with her family, and at age 60 began golfing. Pauline liked to travel, and visiting her children and grandchildren.

Preceding Pauline in death were her parents, and her husband Vernon on February 22, 1989.

Survivors include her daughters; Terri and her husband Dick Turner of Cottage Grove, WI, and Judy and her husband William Mitchell of Weatherford, TX, four grandchildren; Jeremy Jenness of Port St. Joe, FL, Ann Turner of Lawrence, KS, and Emily and Melissa Turner both Madison, WI. Also surviving are one brother, Dennis and his wife Gladys Johnson of Storm Lake, two sisters-in-law; Ruth Faber of Cherokee and Viola and her husband Edgar Allen of Aurelia, and other relatives and friends.
