HARRIET ZARR

Funeral services for Harriet Zarr, 77, of Aurelia, will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, March 3, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia with Pastor Harold Werley officiating. Burial will be in the Afton Township Cemetery, rural Cherokee. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., with the family being present from 6:00 to 8:00, at the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia.

Harriet died Tuesday, February 28, 2006, at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee, Iowa.

Harriet Louise Mohror was born on March 25, 1928, the daughter of Frank and Louise (Luetkeman) Mohror at Aurelia. She attended Brooke School and graduated from the Peterson High School in 1946. In September of 1946 Harriet began working for the Farm Bureau Office in Cherokee. On December 17, 1949 Harriet married Jared (Bud) Zarr at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. Harriet was the Afton Township Clerk, and managed the Aurelia Golf Club from 1980 till 1994. She was a member of the Aurelia First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, was a Sunday school teacher, 4H leader, and a member of the Cheerio and Birthday Clubs, and enjoyed making cross-stitch quilts.

Preceding Harriet in death were her parents, four brothers-in-law; John Hartwig, Roy Stieneke, Leonard Stout, and Herb Nelson, and two sisters-in-law; Ruth Walter and Fern Zarr.

Survivors include her husband Bud of Aurelia, two daughters, Sherrie and her husband Tom Mahoney of Salina, Kansas, and Toni Zarr of Des Moines, four sisters, Vera Stieneke of Cherokee, Dorothy Hartwig of Aurelia, Phyllis and her husband Rex Boatman of Waterloo, and Marcella Stout of Las Vegas, one brother-in-law, Harold and his wife Marge Zarr of Sioux City, one sister-in-law, Mae Nelson of Des Moines, and nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
