Florence (Cannon) Smith passed away on July-19-1942 at Winfield Kan. Florence Persis Cannon was born to Ephraim and Emily (Oviatt) Cannon on a farm in Afton Township, Cherokee County Ia, on Feb. 27 1876. Her siblings were Effie Blake, Chancy, Olive, Fannie Ferguson, Fred, Allie Coleman, , Charles, Clara Butts, Elva Goodrich, Lena Garlock, Ephraim and Clinton.
She recieved her education in the rural school and high school in Cherokee. Later she taught school. On Dec, 30, 1897 she was united in marriage to James F. Smith of Larabee, Ia. Three children were born to this union.Mrs. Ernest Kljebenetstein of Engelwood, J. William of LaFeria, Texas, and Loren who died at a very early age. There are also 2 grandchildren. The last few years she made her home in Winfield Ka. She was 66 years old.
