Cherokee Arcives

Clarence D. Scott was born in Afton Township, Cherokee County Ia. to James J. and Lucinda ( Morrison) Scott Apr. 9, 1894 and passed away at Sioux City Ia. May 23, 1946 after a short illness.
He grew to manhood in the vicinity of Cherokee and recieved his education in thr public schools of the couny. He engaged in farming for a number of years, later moving to Aurelia Ia. Five years ago he moved to Sioux City where he drove a truck for Sioux City Motor Express hauling livestock.
In 1942 he was married to Nettie Berendt, who survives him. Other survivors are a step-daughter Loraine at home; Son James W. Scott of Fairbanks AK and Mrs. Geraldine Franck of Omaha NE, also his father, James J. Scott, of Aurelia IA; three brothers, Will and Nellis Cherokee and Chester of Meriden IA; ; one sister, Agnes Blake of Cherokee.
Funeral services were conducted from the Congregational Church in Aurelia, Rev. Edwin Trigg in charge, assisted by Rev, Stanworth of the Methodist Church. Music was furnished by Mrs. Opal Robinson and Mrs. Ralph Mongan, With Mrs. Imo Krout at the organ.
Honorary and active pallbearers were employees of the Sioux City Motor Express
He was preceded in death by his mother Feb. 6, 1930; his wife Minnie (Dahlgren) Scott ( Geraldine's mother ) Feb. 18, 1927 and Gladys ( Dunn ) Scott (James W. Scott's mother) Jan. 26, 1916
