Last Sad Rights For Mrs. Clarence Scott. Victim of kerosene flames laid to rest in Afton Township.
Hundreds of symathetic friends filled the Methodist Church on Sunday afternoon, when funeral were services conducted for Mrs. Clarence Scott, victim of frightful burns caused by ignited kerosene. The tragedy ocurred the previous Tuesday evening when Mrs. Scott poured kerosene om smoldering coals in a heating stove to revive the flames. In an instant her clothing was ablaze and only Mr Scott's presence of mind , when he smothered the flames with a blanket , prevented his wife from burning to a crisp.
Rev. F.F. Robinson , pastor of the local Methodist church, was in charge of the last sad rights and read passages from the Psalms. The gospel of John and Revelations. A mixed quartet composed of Ivan Addy. Mrs G. A. Brink, Miss Mildred Mossman and Fred Mossman sang two selections " Sometime We'll Understand", and " Someday He"ll Make it plain." Miss Olive Sweet accompanied the singers. The pallbearers were Perry King, Jay Peters, Henry Treinen, L.C. Albaugh, W.W. Bass and Fred Knox.
Immediately following the brief service, the procession wended its way to Afton township, north of Cherokee where the body was laid to rest. Quiet and unassuming, Mrs. Scott has always immediately won her way in to the hearts of all who were privileged to know her.
