Jan Lawrence, 64 of Wheat Ridge, Colo. passed away Monday, Mar. 2, 1998 at her home after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held on Sat., Mar. 7, in Lakewood, Colo.
Mrs. Lawrence, the former Janice Abels, was born July 11, 1933 in Cherokee, Ia. After graduating from high school in Cherokee, she attended Iowa State University, majoring in music. She helped in directing both college choirs. While residing in Albuquerque N.M. she was invited to sing the lead in the first televised performance of the "Christian Misiai." She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority and was a former retailer, owning "The Yardstick" at High Country Square in 1977-78. She was active in voluntary programs and served on the Little League football committee. She formed and directed quilting groups. She served on the committee of the Golden Quilt Museum, was instrumental in its location and donated quilts to the museum.
Survivors include her husband, H.F. "Hank" Lawrence; five sons: Henry F. "Sunny", Vail, Colorado; Scott, Salt Lake City, Utah;Ben, Wheat Ridge; Bob, Boulder, Colorado; and Jim, Westminster, Colorado; a daughter, Peggy, San Antonio, Texas; and six grandchildren.
