Robert E. Tiffany, 69, of 335 E. Cedar, Cherokee Ia. died Saturday 4-23-1994 in the Verterans Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., following a lengthy illness.
Graveside services were held Tues. at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee. Rev. Gary Armstong officiated. Military services were conducted by L.A. Wescott Post # 2253. Greenwood Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. His body was cremated.
He was born Sept. 1924 in Cherokee to Harvey and Angeline (Henderson) Tiffany. He was educated in area schools and attended Wilson High School in Cherokee. He seaved in the U.S. Marines during Worold War 2.
He was wounded in action while serving with 2nd Marine Division during the invasion of Saipan He returned to Cherokee where he farmed and raised cattle with his brother Tom. Later he moved to Alexander Mn. and worked for Boatworks.
On Dec. 8, 1951 he married Bonnie Gillespie in Wothington Mn. They moved to S. Siuox City, Neb. where he worked construction until his retirement in 1972. Robert did metal salvage work after returning to Chgerokee.
Survivors include his wife ; four daughters; Deborah Combs and her husband Gary; of Westfield; Jaquelynn Piepho, and her husband Timothy, Of Seargent Bluff. Nicollette Engel, of Sioux City,; Mellissa Nunn, and her husband, Scott of Lincoln, Ne.; 2 sisters, Doris Russell of Atascedero, Ca; Harriet Bennett, and her husband, Darrell of Lincoln, Ne; also 7 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and 1 sister.
