Elsie C. Webb,96 of Marcus, Iowa, former longtime Cherokee IA resident, passed away Dec, 27, 2003 , at Heartland Care Center in Marcus Ia following a lengthy illness.
Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tues. Dec.30, in Afton Township cemetery, rural Cherokee, with Elders Earl Webb and Darrell Webb officiating. Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee was in charge of the arrangements.
Elsie C. Webb was born Dec.4. 1907, at Woodbine, Ia. to E.M. and Nellie (Landingham) Chiles. She Graduated from Cherokee Public Schools.
She was married to Theodore Roosevelt (Ted) Webb on June 1 , 1925, in Cherokee. She worked with her husband driving mail trucks and was a nurses aide at Gregg's Hilltop Nursing home . She had been a resident in Heartland Care Center the past 7 years.
She was a member of the reorganized Church of Jesus Crist of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed crocheting., fishing, camping,and traveling with her husband and family.
survivors include seven children; Velma Jenness and her husband, Merritt of Marcus; Darlene Williams of Sioux Falls SD: Earl Webb of Panora IA. and his wife Connie of Sioux City; Darrell Webb and his wife Joanne of Colorado Springs Colo. Elsie Tigges and her husband, Carroll of Peterson IA. Willard Webb of Lakeside , Calif., and Donna Groepper and her husband, Rodney of Cherokee; a daughter-in-law, Doris Webb Milleson of Muskogee, Okla; 33 grandchildren; 61 great-grand-children; 18 great-great-granschildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Jan. 26, 1975; a son Gilbert Webb in May 1993; an infant daughter , Leta Mae; two grandsons,; Roland Jenness in 1969, and Roger Tigges in 1978; a stepgrandson, Steven filippi in 2002; three brothers; Clyde, Frank and Merle Chiles; a son-in-law Gene Williams in 2000; and a duaghter-in-law, JoAnne Webb in Nov 2003
