Mildred Terry, 86, of Cherokee, IA, passed away Sat. June 10, 2006 in Countryside Estates in Cherokee.
Graveside services were held Mon. June 12th, at 11:00 P.M. at the Afton Township Cemetery, rural Cherokee. Rev. Ray Hampton officiated. The Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee was in charge of arrangements.
Mildred was born Feb. 9, 1920 in Sibley, Iowa to Clyde and Mary Wilson.
She graduated from East High School in Des Moines, Iowa in 1937. She married Woodrow T. Terry on Dec. 2, 1939 at Anniston, Alabama. She and Woodrow had lived near many military bases throughout the U. S. and the world, including Okinawa , Japan, and Heidelberg Germany. Mildred returned to school and graduated from Argubright Business College in 1941 and in 1968 became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Following Lt. Col. Terry's retirement in 1957, they lived in Little Silver, New Jersey until May of 1972 when they moved to Cherokee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Woodrow on Oct, 21, 2001, two sisters Virginia Fisher and Jean Davis; two brothers Kenneth and Lyle Wilson.
She is survived by one daughter Ruth Elizabeth Matthews of San Antonio, Texas; two granddaughters, Carol Sedillo and her husband David of San Antonio; Cathy Gamble and her husband Rodney of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two great grandchildren; Reina Peres and Daryl Sedillo.
