AURELIA, Iowa -- Clayton "Cullie" Lehnhardt, 79, of Aurelia died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurelia, with the Rev. Larry Lemke officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Aurelia. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia.

Clayton Burdette Lehnhardt was born Oct. 13, 1925, the son of Edward and Emma (Radke) Lehnhardt in Aurelia. He graduated from Aurelia High School in 1943. Cullie served in the U.S. Army.

On April 23, 1960, he married Lola Jean Struve in Sioux City. He worked at the Skelly Station in Aurelia and for Wilson's in Cherokee. Cullie was a member of the Aurelia Fire Department from May 14, 1954, to May 8, 1964. On Aug. 11, 1987, he entered Sunset Knoll Retirement Home in Aurelia.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and American Legion Grashoff-McManus Post 390 of Aurelia. Cullie loved fishing, golf, bowling and all sports.

Survivors include his wife, Lola of Aurelia; a son, Jeffrey Lehnhardt and his wife, Linda Fritz of Verona, Ky.; two daughters, Sally Lehnhardt and her husband, Michael Platzke of St. Charles, Ill., and Celeste Christensen of Seattle, Wash.; a granddaughter, Krista Nicole Lehnhardt; two sisters, Ruth Anderson of Marcus, Iowa, and Phyllis and her husband, Richard Munster of Hiwasse, Ark.; and two sisters-in-law, Ester Lehnhardt of New Orleans, La., and Helen Lehnhardt of Madison, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marvin and Arlin; his stepfather, Ed Herrig; and a brother-in-law, Erwin Anderson.
