CLEGHORN, Iowa -- Robert P. Specht, 80, of Cleghorn died Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Marcus, Iowa, with the Rev. Don Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Earnest-Rohde Funeral Home in Marcus.

Robert was born Sept. 26, 1924, in rural Cleghorn, the son of John and Amelia (Mayer) Specht. He was baptized on Oct. 19, 1924, and confirmed on April 2, 1939, all at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Marcus. He attended country school and graduated from Cleghorn High School. After graduating, he started farming.

He married Elvera Eldredge on Sept. 28, 1952, and continued to farm in the Cleghorn area until he retired.

He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served as trustee and Sunday school superintendent for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Elvera of Cleghorn; two sons and their wives, Steve and Rosie Specht and Brian and Geri Specht, all of Cleghorn; two daughters and their husbands, Diane and Steve Pitts of Cleghorn, and Elaine and Bill Hageman of Marcus; 11 grandchildren, Alisa, Jacob, Zachary and Kristen Dixson, Kelli and her husband, Joel Egland, Brad and Justin Pitts, Stephanie, Zachary, Bethany and Benjamin Specht; two great-grandchildren, Kaleigh Dixson and Ashley Pitts; a brother, Roy Specht of Marcus; and a sister, Catherine Wendt of Cleghorn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Irene Specht and Myra Johnson; and a brother, Harris Specht.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital Hospice in Cherokee, Iowa.
