AURELIA, Iowa -- Lynn Edward Friedrichsen, 48, of Aurelia passed away Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at his residence from complications with diabetes.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at United Methodist Church in Alta, Iowa, with the Rev. Jamie Cutler officiating. Burial will be in Holstein Cemetery, Holstein, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Alta.

Lynn Edward Friedrichsen was born April 1, 1957, in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Loren and Doreen (Hadden) Friedrichsen. His first year was spent at the farm house near Holstein. He attended elementary school in Alta and graduated from Alta High School in 1975. He attended and graduated from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, majoring in food service and management. He also was a past member of DeMolay for Boys.

After graduation in 1977, he was employed with Happy Chef Restaurants in Cherokee, Fairmont, Minn., and Algona, Iowa. He came back to Cherokee to be a manager. In 1986, he worked as head cook at Danny's Steakhouse in Cherokee until 1993, when the flood forced Danny's to close. He then went to work for Lakeshore Family Restaurant in Storm Lake, Iowa, and was employed there at the time of his death.

He was united in marriage to Catherine Struz on June 15, 1985, in Omaha. To this union a son, John Thomas, was born.

He enjoyed music and doing DJ work for dances and parties. He was a collector of Hot Wheels since the age of five. He collected replicas of tractors, trucks, glasses and antique items. He enjoyed watching television, playing cribbage with his dad and uncles and cooking up a delicious meal for his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his son, John Friedrichsen of Omaha; his parents, Loren and Doreen Friedrichsen of Alta; a sister and her husband, Loreen and Michael Moneypenny of Mitchie, Tenn.; his grandmother, Lillian Hadden of Holy Spirit Assisted Living in Sioux City; two nieces, Dawn Gehrts of Aurelia and Charlotte Tibbetts of Troutman, N.C.; a nephew, Clinton Watts of Readlyn, Iowa; his aunts and uncles, Robert and Connie Hoch and David and Jean Hadden, all of Storm Lake, Iowa; his pets, cat, Amy, and dog, Duke; and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Dahleen; grandparents, John and Edna Friedrichsen; grandfather, Edward Hadden; great-niece, Tatum Jean Tibbetts; and stepgrandfather, Gloyd Nelson.
