Mary Maxine Dreyer

Mary Maxine Dreyer, 84, of Cherokee, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mary was born to William and Marie (Bertram) Thomason in Falls City, Neb., on March 21, 1921. She graduated from Omaha Tech High School and Van Sant School of Business in Omaha. She was employed as a bookkeeper for several years with Jack Robinson's Department Store in Sioux City and was also employed at the Woodbury County Courthouse as a secretary.

She married Bert L. Dreyer on Feb. 24, 1950, in Omaha. He died on Dec. 19, 1992, in Sioux City.

She was a member of Church of Christ in Sioux City and taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for a number of years. Mary loved to travel. Her favorite trips were to Europe, a cruise through the Panama Canal and several trips to Canada.

Survivors include a daughter, Janet Ege and her husband, John of Cherokee; a sister, Donna Wilmoth and her husband, Raymond of Carter Lake, Iowa; three grandsons, Brandon, Jordan and Connor Ogren of Cherokee; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Stuart Allen Dreyer; her parents, Marie Anna (Bertram) Thomason and William Thomason; and a brother, Norman Keller.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Ogren, Jordan Ogren, Connor Ogren, Scot Ogren, John Ege and Bruce Ege.
