Irene P. Goeb

CHEROKEE, Iowa -- Irene P. Goeb, 83, of Cherokee died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at her residence following a brief illness.

Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, with the Rev. Armand Bertrand officiating. There will be a Scripture services at 7 p.m.today at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee.

Irene was born Nov. 9, 1921, in Aurelia, Iowa, to Bernard and Etta (Robbins) Paulson. She attended school in Aurelia, graduating from Aurelia High School in 1939. She also was the first homecoming queen of Aurelia High School.

On Nov. 26, 1942, she married Paul Goeb in Cherokee. They made their home in Cherokee for many years. She was active in adult education, teaching ballroom dancing for many years. She was a longtime volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Ladies Union. She enjoyed playing bridge, dancing and lively games of cribbage with her husband and grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and other family at her cottage on Lake Minnewashta.

Survivors include her husband; her daughters and their husbands, Andrea and Dan Dailey of Monmouth, Ore., Kathryn and Kenneth Patterson of Cherokee, Pamela and Michael Jordan of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Connie and Joe Cuttell of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; her sons and their wives, Richard and Suzanne Goeb of Danville, Calif., and Christopher and Lou Ann Goeb of Sheldon, Iowa; a sister, Gean Gustafson of Chicago, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and three sisters.
